Walk through the history of New Plymouth from 1841 when the first European settlers arrived on Ngamotu Beach to the beginnings of the modern city we know today.
Your guide will meet you in the Puke Ariki museum foyer and introduce you to the lives of those who established the town. Then enjoy a steady stroll through the city streets, hearing the stories of survival in desperate isolation and deprivation, warfare and sieges, colourful characters and the start of an economically viable town while seeing the evidence in the buildings and monuments before you.
Return to Puke Ariki for a delicious lunch at Arborio, a modern bistro with the best view in town across the Coastal Walkway to the sea beyond.
